Filmmmaker Karan Johar feels Tumbbad is relentless
Tumbbad’s successful run at the box office has made Karan Johar feel the film is relentless.
While the makers are celebrating the success of the critically acclaimed film, ace filmmaker Karan Johar cited one more reason to watch the film as he spoke highly about Tumbbad.
Karan feels that the content films in Bollywood have increased, no matter the film is a big budget film or a small budget.
When asked filmmaker Karan Johar, he said, “The films these years, the high content films have gone off through the roof. Everything you have thought would never work has worked. Smaller films you that you would imagine would just fade into oblivion are doing an X amount, like Tumbbad that actually is in Cinema halls for nearly 6- 7 weeks, and it touches a number only because it’s relentless.”
Filmmaker Aanand L Rai who presented the film shared, “I was going ahead with something where I knew I will get the audience, It is not just a horror-horror but a new genre. I believed it will attract the family audience somehow. This is a kind of film, the day my daughter is 18 I will show this film to her. So it was for all those people, Ke aap aao yeh film dekho and wait for the day you can watch it with your family, with your kids. Because it was about greed which is so universal, and that’s what we need to teach the next generation that not to be greedy, so I felt like this story needs to be told.”
Despite big banner releases, Tumbbad has maintained its pace at the box office and has been collecting a decent amount taking the total collection to 13.48 cr.
Giving glimpses of the ancient Marathi culture, Tumbbad perfectly grabbed the essence of the interiors of Maharashtra in the pre Independence era creating stunning visuals for the audience.
The film created history by being the first Indian film to open the Venice International Film Critic’s Week and continues to win at the box office clocking 50 days at theaters.
Tumbbad is an Eros International and Aanand L Rai’s presentation and a Sohum Shah Films in association with Colour a Yellow Productions. Co-produced by Filmi Väst and Filmgate Films.
