Chinkara case: Salman Khan gets notice from Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on Friday, agreed to hear Rajasthan Government’s plea challenging Salman Khan’s acquittal in the 1998 chinkara poaching case. The SC has also issued a notice to Salman.

The Rajasthan High Court had acquitted the actor in two cases of chinkara poaching in July this year, citing lack of evidences. The state government has recently filed a plea in the apex court, challenging High Court’s decision of acquitting the actor. In their appeal, the government has requested the SC to direct the Bollywood superstar to surrender. Salman’s driver was not intentionally cross-examined by his lawyers, alleges the state.

In 1998, while shooting for ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain,’ Salman was accused of hunting Chinkara, which is an endangered animal under the Wildlife Protection Act. Seven other people were accused along with the actor, in two separate incidents near Jodhpur on 26th and 28th September.

On the work front, the actor is currently hosting television reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ and is also shooting for Kabir Khan’s next film ‘Tubelight’.
