Saif Ali Khan spills the beans on Baazaar
Here’s all you need to know about Saif Ali Khan’s Baazaar
It is very uncommon to see Indian filmmakers make movies based around the adrenaline-pumping world of the stock market. Producer Nikkhil Advani (Airlift and Hero) has chosen to walk down the seldom-trodden path with his latest venture Baazaar, which features Saif Ali Khan, debutant Rohan Mehra and Chitrangada Singh in the lead. The last time we had seen Nikkhil and Saif come together for a film, it was for Kal Ho Na Ho (2004) which had Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta in the lead.
While talking about the film, Nikkhil said “It’s been 13 years since Kal Ho Naa Ho, when I last shared creative space with Saif. So, this movie is special for us.”
This movie will see Saif play a shrewd businessman with a rags-to-riches story, who is deemed the uncrowned king of the Indian stock market. If reports are to be believed, Saif had met some real world power sharks of the business world.
Saif, while talking about the film, said “It’s a story about ambition, greed, betrayal, loss, and redemption. The movie is a suspense thriller set in the world of big deals and high finance,”
Wait a minute. We have Saif playing the role of a businessman and a young man, who, we are guessing, will essay the role of someone who is like a protégé to Saif’s character. Is this movie in any way inspired by the 1987 Hollywood flick Wall Street? Wall Street featured Michel Douglas and Charlie Sheen in the lead. The first look of the poster gives us a feeling that his character might be involved into the practice of corporate raiding, a role that Douglas played in the 1987 movie.
For now, we can only keep guessing. We will only come to know once we learn more about the film. The movie is being directed by Gauravv K Chawla and co-produced by KYTA Productions and Emmay Entertainment. The movie is slated to release this December.
