Katrina Kaif honoured for her contribution to cinema
Katrina Kaif, whose latest release ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ did not set the cash registers ringing at the box office, will be honoured with the Smita Patil Memorial Award at a glittering Global Awards ceremony, which will be held in Mumbai on the 19th of September.
Niranjan Hiranandani , the Chairman of Priyadarshni Acadamy says, “The academy has been giving this distinguished award ever since it was established, and this year, the jury has unanimously nominated Katrina for the Smita Patil Memorial Award for her work in films.”
Nanik Rupani, the founding Chairman of the acadamy adds, “This award goes to her as a recognition to an outstanding individual who has shown excellence in her field.”
Katrina made her debut in the box office disaster ‘Boom’, way back in 2003, but achieved fame and recognition after David Dhawan’s ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ which released in 2005. She has been one of the few Bollywood actresses who have managed to maintain their fan following and popularity even after so many years of being in the business.
Katrina will next be seen in ‘Jagga Jasoos’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor, ‘Raat Baaki’ with Fawad Khan and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ in which she will be seen opposite Salman Khan.
