Vishal Bhardwaj clears the air about the Rangoon Controversy

Vishal Bhardwaj and team Rangoon prove copyright infringement accusations as baseless

cctor Vishal Bhardwaj of unapologetically copying the character of Fearless Nadia from Hunterwali (1935)

In response to this, Bhardwaj’s counsel, Virendra Saraf stated that Rangoon has been made with the help of an American writer and publicly available information. Over and above all, Fearless Nadia is a screen name, such as Rekha, Ajay Devgn, and Rajnikanth.

Wadia Movietone also stated that they had shared a script with Bhardwaj in 2006, only to be turned down 13 months later. The Defendant Bhardwaj and his counsel denied receiving any script as such. With this denial, they rendered Wadia Movietone’s accusations baseless. The defendant also advocated that although Rangoon’s trailer might bear resemblance to Hunterwali, but that’s as far as the association between Rangoon and Hunterwali goes.

With the CBFC giving the movie a nod and all the possible Rangoon controversies put to rest, it seems like the makers have a clear road ahead of them as far as the release and the screening of Rangoon is concerned.
