Shah Rukh Khan goes to Oxford!

Shah Rukh Khan’s wit and charm is contagious, and his recent wave-making TED Talk bears testimony to that. Although not many people who were at the venue that day were aware of his stardom, but yet he effortlessly managed to sweep them off their feet and how! Fast forward to today, Khan has now accepted Oxford University’s invitation and will soon be delivering a lecture there.

It won’t be the first time that the superstar will be teaching a thing or two to a bunch of university students. He has also delivered a talk at Yale back in 2012.

Flashback to November 2016, when the principal of the University, Alan Rusbridger, took to Twitter to invite King Khan by tweeting “Can we tempt you to Oxford University to talk to our students @lhmoxford? They love you (I’m the principal).”

Fast forward to today, when King Khan was quizzed on the same, he confirmed the news by saying  “I love to talk. Whenever someone invites me to deliver a speech, I always consider it an opportunity. I have been to Yale earlier (in 2012) and now, I have received an invitation from Oxford. I’ll go if I have the time and if it fits into my scheme of things.”

He insists on writing his speech on his own. Khan says “I don’t like anyone writing for me. It takes time for me to sit down and write, given my schedule, but it has to be done by me. I am yet to zero in on a subject for this talk,”

When asked about his experience of delivering his first ever TED Talk, he said “I have always liked TED Talks and have grown up watching them. So, if I am invited to it, it’s a big honour. I get to learn a lot of things from the people who come to hear me out. It’s a fulfilling experience to stand amongst people who have achieved so much and exchange ideas with them. Otherwise, we are just in a cocoon and keep discussing, ‘Bhai, India mein business kitna hua?’.”

Currently, Khan is keeping busy with the promotions of Jab Harry Met Sejal and shooting for the Aanand L Rai Dwarf film.

We bet that the students at Oxford will be really anxious to have their favourite superstar as their guest lecturer!
