RUSTOM ROW: Akshay Kumar & Twinkle Khanna slammed with a legal notice

A few weeks ago, we had reported how Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna were criticized on social media for deciding to auction the Navy Uniform Akshay wore in his 2016 film, Rustom. If that was not enough, both of them have now been slammed with a legal notice regarding the same. The reason that has been given is that they have hurt the sentiments of armed forces personnel and widows of martyrs.

It was also clarified by Twinkle this was being done for a noble cause and charity purpose and 90% of the proceeds will be donated to NGO Janice’s Trust, an animal rescue service. Even though, there is no law that debars the process of auctioning, after the 2016 terror attack at the Air Force Station in Pathankot, the Indian Army has issued guidelines asking civilians to refrain from wearing Army Uniforms and shopkeepers from selling the same, or any equipment related to the forces.

If Akshay and Twinkle fail to cancel the auction, necessary actions will be taken against them under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
