Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s next to be a light hearted comedy

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra who recently wrapped up the shoot for his next film Mere Pyaare Prime Minister announced that his reunion with Rang De Basanti writer Rensil D’Silva for his upcoming light-hearted comedy based on the generational conflict between a father-son duo.

Mere Pyaare Prime Minister Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra recently locked the script for the film and is in the initial stages of casting.

The director who was wrapping the shoot of his social drama Mere Pyaare Prime Minister based on the journey of an 8- year- old boy who wants to build a toilet for his single mother, is now gearing up for the upcoming next with Rensil D’Silva.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra who has given amazing films like Aks and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag points out that to understand the younger generation we need to understand the generation before them. He admits that he’s learning new things every day by viewing the world through his 19-year-old daughter Bhairavi and 17-year-old son, Vedant. “I place myself in their shoes and I think that life has demanded a lot less from my generation. It wasn’t exactly la la land for us, but today there are demands of the society, of friend circles, of workplaces. Everything has gone through a transition and we are on the brink of a new social order, one that is more gender-neutral,” Mehra explains, adding that his new film will explore competition, peer pressure, and modern-day relationships. “The choices you have to make in life in this age are very different. And we’re going to explore that,” he adds.

On the work front, his next project as a producer is ‘Fanne Khan’, featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, and Rajkummar Rao. Mehra describes it as a ‘beautiful story’ of a father and daughter and said a lot about music and women artiste.
