Padmaavat: Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh BAN the film!

Although a truckload of clarifications have been given about the fact that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Padmavati, which got renamed to Padmavat and then Padmaavat, does not tamper with any part of the Indian history in any way, certain states, who are clearly influenced by the anger displayed by Shree Rajput Karni Sena, have decided to ban the screening of the period drama for once and for all.

The states that we are talking about here are Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, who seem to be in NO mood to a reconcile.

Speaking about imposing a ban on the 160-crore film, Vijay Rupani, the newly elected CM of the state of Gujarat, said “Gujarat will not release Padmaavat”

While Gujarat took the decision by saying that the film shows women in poor light, Madhya Pradesh, on the other hand, has halted its screening for political reasons. As is known, MP will be having assemble elections later this year, so the ruling government does not want to anger the influential Rajput community in any possible way until then.

So, as of now, three states are against the film. Here’s hoping that the number doesn’t grow.
