Kaabil’s rights sold already?
The makers of ‘Kaabil’ are making sure they don’t suffer the same fate the makers of ‘Krrish 3’, ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘Mohenjo Daro’ did. They have decided to cash in on their profits before the movie’s release and have sold the rights to the movie already. This time around, Hrithik plays the role of a blind man and we weren’t very impressed with the trailer since we felt that his expressions were very similar to what he did in ‘Koi Mil Gaya’. The very gorgeous Yami Gautam plays his wife and the couple look good together. The makers of the movie had insisted on making the movie on a modest budget to cut down their losses in a worst case scenario. They have now sold the rights of the movie for a whopping Rs 65 crores! The domestic rights of the film have been sold for Rs 50 crores and the international rights have been sold for Rs 15 crores.
As per a popular Bollywood website, a source close to the movie production team said, “When Rakeshji (Roshan) decided to produce the film with Sanjay Gupta as the director, it was clear that the budget won’t go overboard. This is not a ‘Krrish’ in the making that requires an astronomical sum to be spent on production. As a matter of fact, even the film’s promotional campaign calls ‘Kaabil’ as ‘a small film with a big heart’. Of course, even a small film of Hrithik Roshan is bound to be big, as it is apparent in the promo that is already out. Still, when compared to the magnum opus set up that majority of Hrithik starrers carry, be it ‘Krrish’ series, ‘Bang Bang’ or ‘Mohenjo Daro’, ‘Kaabil’ has a much controlled set up.”
So the plan is simple, once the movie crosses Rs 100 crores, the makers start making profits as they have already sold the rights for Rs 65 crores!
‘Kaabil’ is scheduled for a Januray 26 release!
