Here’s how Akshay Kumar defeated the three Khans in 2018!

Akshay Kumar has been on a roll since 2016. Right from Airlift to 2.0, the actor has delivered eight consecutive successful films. He’s not only one of the most bankable stars but also a meticulous producer, who spends every penny wisely. And it’s only because of his script choices and impressive business module that he has marched ahead of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan in 2018.

The actor, who’s known for doing multiple films in a year, starred in three films in 2018- Pad Man, Gold and 2.0. The combined net collections of these films stand at a staggering 600 crores. Where the R. Balki directorial made over 78 crores, Reema Kagti’s period drama made 107 and Shankar’s sci-fi adventure raked in around 415 crores, including all the three versions.

It was a rather tepid and disappointing year for the three Khans. Salman Khan’s Race 3, despite making 170 crores at the ticket windows, became a victim of incessant online trolling due to its laughable trailer, unintentionally comical dialogues and a harebrained plot. Aamir Khan’s Thugs Of Hindostan, which created history by smashing all previous records and collecting 50 crores on Day 1, also crashed by the weekend due to a weak script. The trailer and the songs left the fans unimpressed as well.

Talking about SRK’s Zero, people had expectations since the trailer and the songs were liked by almost everyone. However, the makers’ decision to make the film a world of fantasy didn’t go down with many people, and Bauua Singh’s journey from Meerut to Mars met with polarized reactions. It’s yet to touch the 100-crore mark and continuing to struggle at the box-office.

2019 should hopefully be better for these three stars!
