2.0: When Arnold Schwarzenegger was the first choice for the villain & Rajinikanth almost quit the film!

Is it possible to imagine a sequel to Robot without Superstar Rajiniaknth? Well, he recently revealed he was about to quit 2.0. The actor recalled that that during the shoot, there was a time when his health complications were really taking a toll on him. He also disclosed how he had lost his confidence to pull off his character Chitti and even asked Shankar to let him opt out of the project. However, the director was really patient and kept in mind the veteran actor’s health issues. Rajinikanth also confessed that shooting with a fourteen-kilo suit was quite difficult for him.

And here’s another trivia for all those unaware! The makers’ first choice for the role of the antagonist wasn’t Akshay Kumar but the Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger. Reports suggested the star even gave his nod to be a part of this gigantic film but demanded an unheard remuneration of over 100 crores. They later offered the part to Kumar who was paid around 70 crores. However, director Shankar, in a recent conference spoke about the same and said:-

We had thought of casting Arnold Schwarzenegger. We had talked and allotted dates also. But somehow things did not work out as the contracts of Hollywood and India are contradictory. So we thought of looking at a good cast from the Indian film industry. He added, “Everyone (at Lyca’s production house) told me to consider Akshay and I also thought it would be nice. I narrated the story to him and he said yes.”
