In a first-of-its-kind turn of events, a certain director, namely Chakri Toleti, decided to take somewhat of a stereotypical dig at the Indian film industry with India’s first comedy that will be seen in 3D, Welcome To New York.
Admittedly, our hopes weren’t as high when we walked into the theatre, but halfway in, what we could extract out of this feature presentation is its immense potential of delivering something for every kind of audience, as apart from what you have seen in the promo, the film has quite a few League-A actors making fleeting appearances, through which director Toleti has displayed his ability to seamlessly switch things up as and when it’s needed.
To give you all a short glimpse of where it all starts, it has somewhat of a revenge-drama angle to it. And, indulging further into how someone’s revenge ultimately leads to its leading pair Sonakshi Sinha and the charming Diljit Dosanjh sharing the stage with the stalwarts of the Indian film fraternity is something that we’d rather let you experience, but, at your own risk! Because this film will take you on a ride that you have NEVER imagine being on!
This review cannot be completed without mentioning one of the prime highlight(s) of the film, which are the two Karan Johar’s who seem to be engulfed into their own real-life stereotypes which never really get old irrespective of the numerous times they pop up on the screen. He is, easily, the best thing about the film!
A must watch if you want to see Bollywood taking a jibe at it’s own reported projects.
