Will Aamir Khan break the record of SRK, Salman, Prabhas and Ranbir this Diwali?

Aamir Khan, who started the 100-crore club with Ghajini in 2008, 200-crore club with 3 idiots in 2009 and 300-crore club with PK in 2014, is now eyeing for much more with this Diwali’s Thugs Of Hindostan. The Yash Raj Films is also leaving no stone unturned to ensure this mega-budgeted action-adventure drama opens to a stupendous response all across the nation. Just like what they did with Dhoom 3 in 2013, they plan to repeat history. The production house has given diktats to all the single-screens and multiplexes’ owners to increase the ticket prices by 10% in comparison to this year’s Sanju and Race 3, and then drop them by 25% during the weekdays.

As far as the screen-count is concerned, this Amitabh Bachchan-Aamir Khna starrer is likely to be the biggest release of all time as YRF is planning to release the film in over 4800-5000 screens. Keeping all these factors in mind, the only question that comes out is- Will this be the biggest opener ever? It may have to surpass a lot of films to create history on Day 1 at the box-office.

The highest single-day collections are by Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju, which collected Rs. 46.71 crores on its Day 3. This was closely followed by Prabhas’s Baahubali: The Conclusion, which raked in 46.50 crores on its opening day. The third position is held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year that opened to a thunderous 44.97 crores four years go on this very day. And last is Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which collected 40.50 crores on its opening day, again on the occasion of Diwali in 2015.

Can Thugs Of Hindostan create history and collect over 50 crores on its first day? Let’s wait and watch!
