The men-in-white, Abbas-Mustan, who directed the first two films in the Race franchise, were all set to direct Race 3 as well. However, when people came to know that Remo D’ Souza will be helming the third film in the franchise, they were shocked. A bigger shock came when they also realized that Saif Ali Khan is no longer associated with the franchise.
Well, the entire story goes like this, Abbas-Mustan and producer Ramesh Taurani, the man who has produced the Race films, zeroed down Salman Khan as the leading man for Race 3. When Ramesh Taurani narrated the idea of the film to the star, he put forward a condition that he’ll act in the film only if Remo directs it. When the director duo came to know about this, they quietly moved away from the film. Now, the question here is, why did Salman not want Abbas and Mustan to direct the film?
One reason can be his discomfort to explore the dark space, which are regular staples in the directors’ films, particularly Race and Race 2. Salman even said in one of his interviews how he didn’t really like the negativity of the characters in the Race films. With this, history just repeated itself as Bhai said no to Abbas and Mustan’s Baazigar as well, nearly 25 years ago, as he didn’t want to play a negative role. 2 decades later, he still stands by the same!
Race 3 is now ready for the world to see on the 15th of June, 2018!
