Sometime last year, Karan Johar had announced a biopic on the eminent hockey player Dhyan Chand. The writer of the film is Rohit Vaid. Reportedly, Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor were the first ones who had been approached to play the hockey legend, but they refused it as SRK wasn’t the right age (Ouch!) and Ranbir Kapoor is already busy with a biopic.
Then the only two options that were remaining were Student Of The Year co-stars Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. Reportedly, Varun Dhawan has now won this role over his debut co-star. Although the producer and the star were in two minds when it came to the idea of Rohit Vaid helming the project, his recent National Award win surely has now made them rethink over it all.
In a statement to a leading daily, Rohit Vaid stated that as per the producers’ requirement, he has reworked the script with Agneepath writer Ila Bedi.
He further somewhat confirms that Varun Dhawan is pretty much on board as he is going to be the first one who will be approached again with the re-worked script.
Excitement is over the roof right about now to see Varun Dhawan taking up the hockey stick!
