Vidya Balan has a hectic promotional schedule ahead of her next release Tumhari Sulu. To give us a break from all the intense character that we have seen her play, she donned the role of a quirky housewife with a colloquial Mumbai dialect, and boy we are loving every bit of it!
As humans, we are obsessed with what we consider an ideal body type and that’s no secret, and it hadn’t spared Vidya either.
Speaking about her drastic weight changes over the years and on the topic of loving oneself, she spoke about how she was always on the healthier side and was made to believe that she was beautiful that way (which is absolutely true!), but then she was teased in the outside world and when she joined Bollywood, she turned the tables around for herself but she came back to the healthier side as that’s ultimately her body type!
To which, she added, “But you know, whatever body I have been in, I have had desires, bodily desires. I felt attractive, it didn’t stop me from wanting to live my life to the fullest. So I realised that these are the limitations in other people’s heads which they impose upon me, because they have a certain ideal, and now I don’t fit into that and I am okay. I am not going to take away from the fact that I am still a living, pulsating human being. I decided that at least I should be on my side, because otherwise there is no end to rejecting your body and spending a lifetime doing that. But what really happens, it is not your body’s fault, your body needs at least one person on its side, and I said to myself that this is my body and I love it. It is not that I haven’t tried, to an extent that I have killed myself some times, trying to lose weight, but it would come back on.”
Well, there are surely some valid points that Vidya makes here!
Tumhari Sulu will hit theatres on the 17th of November. Are you excited?
