In the latest episode of Anupama Chopra and Rajeev Masand’s podcast on Saavn, Take 2, the guest was none other than Shahid Kapoor. And just like how both the seasoned critics delve into the actor’s first tryst with cinema and the passion for acting, questions for Kapoor were no different. Talking about the first few films that he saw, this is what the actor said, “I used to love watching Sahab Bibi Ghalam at like 5-6 years and my parents were like in shock and were very worried that there’s something wrong with our child, does he come from some deep place of misery and depression..”
Talking about the legendary actor Dilip Kumar, the actor said, “And I love Ram aur Shyam and I loved Dilip Kumar in it. It was very contrary to how people see him and that was what was so exciting that you know it was so different from what you usually associate Dilip Sahab with. And I feel many films that were made at that time were so ahead of their times and so evolved from a sense of the way the characters used to be written to the kind of understanding that the actors had of the text. You know you just see pictures of people like Dilip Sahab or you know I would say my father or Mr Bachchan or Balraj Sahani Sahab and you know you see black and white pictures of them sitting with a script and you know this man has so much to him.”
