Sanjay Leela Bhansali, as is known, is busy shooting for his upcoming period drama Padmavati, which stars Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in lead roles.
Turns out, Bhansali has chosen to shoot the solo portions with the leads before a few scenes which require them together can be shot. The shoot, as you are reading this, is taking place in Film City, Mumbai.
Ahead of the wrap of one of the shoot schedules last week, Deepika Padukone aka Queen Padmavati shot her climax scene, in which she performed the ‘Jauhar’ (self-immolation) scene along with 300 junior artists, which left the director thoroughly impressed with the whole sequence.
Jauhar was a custom practised by Rajput women to avoid being captured or raped by invaders.
One of the onlookers, who was seemingly in complete awe of the scene, while talking about the sequence, said “Deepika Padukone was exceptional in the scene. It was an emotional sequence and took some time to be shot. As many as 300 junior artistes were present on the set. A lot of gunny bags were kept on the set, just as a precaution to avoid any sort of tragedy. The security on the set was also beefed up so that no details or looks from the shoot get leaked.”
Another source added “Sanjay Leela Bhansali has shot for Deepika’s solo climax scene first. Instead of waiting for all the three lead actors to shoot the crucial segment, he decided to go solo and get Shahid, Deepika and Ranveer together only when it is required. There are some war sequences that have to be shot followed by a face-off between Ranveer and Shahid. But these will be shot once Ranveer resumes on June 8 after his London trip.”
Based on the testimony of the onlooker, we are getting really excited for the films’ release on November 17th
