Prabhas, who shot to super stardom both in the North as well as South India with the iconic Baahubali: The Beginning & The Conclusion, was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first choice for Shahid Kapoor’s role in Padmaavat. Given the actor’s portrayal of a fearless warrior in that SS Rajamouli period drama, Bhansali thought he would perfectly fit the bill of the role of Maharaja Rawal Ratan Singh. However, Prabhas declined the role.
The reason wasn’t unavailability of the dates or clashes of schedules, but the character offered to him itself. Prabhas thought the role of the Maharaja wasn’t meaty enough as compared to the role of Khilji or Rani Padmaavati. He thought there was not much scope for him as an actor to perform or bring something compelling to the table. Well, we do agree with him!
On the work-front, the actor is gearing up for his next mega-budgeted tri-lingual action adventure Saaho.
