As we have reported earlier, Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan are confirmed to be reuniting on the big screen eight years after their short appearance together in the Anees Bazmee comedy Thank You in 2011. The film is also reported to star his Airlift co-star Nimrat Kaur. It’s touted to be India’s first space film and is based on the Mars Orbiter Mission, Mangalyaan. R. Balki, who’s producing the film, wanted four heroines and needed two more.
If sources are to be believed, he has brought Taapsee Pannu and Sonakshi Sinha on board! A source said, “After Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Nimrat Kaur were signed for the film, Balki sir has been busy finalizing the rest of the cast. Now, with Sonakshi Sinha and Taapsee Pannu joining the film, Balki is looking at going on floors with the project in January next year.”
The film is co-produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and is expected to go on floors next January. It’ll be directed by Jagan Shakti, who has been an associate director on Pad Man, Holiday and Akira. However, the sad news is that Kumar and Balan have not been paired opposite each other and will be portraying the roles of astro-scientists in the film.
