It was reported a few days ago that Shahid Kapoor was signed as the leading man in the 1964 classic, Woh Kaun Thi? But now, it’s being reported that one of the founders of KriArj Entertainment, that has officially bought the rights of the film, Arjun N. Kapoor, will be launching himself as the hero.
And if reports regarding the film’s leading lady are concerned, Yami Gautam is mostly finalized for the project. If this is true, this would be Yami Gautam’s second outing with the production house after Batti Gul Meter Chalu, which is all set to release on the 31st of August, 2018.
It has been a smooth ride for KriArj at the movies so far. They completed a hat-trick of successes with Akshay Kumar with Rustom (2016), Toilet-Ek Prem Katha (2017) and Padman (2018). Pari (2018), a slightly niche film for the hardcore masala movie lovers, managed to break even due to its small budget, and they have the most promising line-up of films, which includes Parmanu-The Story of Pokhran, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Kedarnath and now the remake of Woh Kaun Thi?
The only question here is, will our newest breed of filmmakers please come out with something original. In the name of tribute and inspiration, monstrosities like RGV Ki Aag (2007), Himmatwala (2013) and Zanjeer (2013) have been unleashed on our senses. They not only ruin the name of the classics they are the remakes of, but also deteriorate the quality of movies in India.
Hopefully, this time, we’ll have a credible remake.
