Shahid Kapoor, who has hosted a couple of IIFA awards in the past, was reportedly all set to co-host the show with Ranbir Kapoor this year as well. That’s not all; his performance was confirmed by the organizers that could have set the stage sizzling. Alas, it seems the Padmaavat star won’t be able to perform anymore; he has backed out of the event due to a back injury he suffered on the sets of his next, Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
A source said, “It was while attempting a tricky step that he suffered a back spasm and was advised against any strenuous activity by the doctor. Although Shahid was scheduled to fly out to Thailand last night, he called off the plan. The IIFA organizers were fairly understanding about it.” But the IIFA organizers don’t have to worry as they have found Shahid’s replacement, and he’s none other than the Race 3 star, Bobby Deol. Fresh off the recent success of the thriller, this is Bobby’s second innings in Bollywood and he’s ceasing every opportunity that’s coming his way.
A source close to the actor says, “His IIFA act is going to be about his journey in Bollywood. Bobby’s act starts from his popular songs from the 90’s like ‘Humko Sirf Tumse Pyaar Hai’ and to his recent hits like ‘Selfish’ and ‘Party Chale On’ from Race 3. He has left no stone unturned for his grand performance at IIFA this year. The actor has been rehearsing for long hours to make his performance a huge success.”
Hopefully, the Soldier star should rock the stage in 2018 exactly the way he used to back in the 90’s.
