Excitement is too small a word for what we are feeling right now after Tiger Zinda Hai trailer dropped yesterday. But, did you know that the story that writer-director Ali Abbas Zafar of Sultan fame wrote for TZH was actually NOT supposed to take the franchise forward?
Speaking about the same, the director said, “I had assisted Kabir for Ek Tha Tiger so I have a brother bond with him as well as Salman. But, before I thought TZH could become a sequel, I wrote the story. When I thought that it was a dynamic story, I realized this story has two agents involved and we already had a film that had Salman and Katrina as agents. And then, those two agents were merged with this story.”
Talking about how things got finalized, he said, “When Salman and Katrina heard the story, they were immediately excited. Even Aditya Chopra was excited. After that, we decided to take the Tiger franchise ahead. It’s very different from the first franchise. The first part was a romantic film, this is the story of a mission. You had seen them as lovers in the first part, here you will see them as agents.”
Speaking about the pressures that come along with the film after delivering a blockbuster like Sultan, he said, “There is a lot of pressure. It’s a big film with Salman and Katrina. It’s a franchise and there is a baggage of expectations from my first film, Sultan.”
He concluded by saying, “I hope this Christmas will make all of us happy,”
Well, we hope so too.
Tiger Zinda Hai will see Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif reprise their roles from the 2012 blockbuster and this time the two will join hands against a common enemy. The film will hit the screens on December 22, 2017!
