The new version of the song that was uploaded without any announcement replaces star Deepika Padukone’s bare midriff with CGI cloth.
However, even with the changes, the Karni Sena hasn’t accepted the film. The group has threatened violence against the director and star, even physically assaulting Bhansali on one occasion and committing arson on the film’s sets.
The protest caused the filmmakers to change the title from Padmavati to Padmaavat to emphasise its fictional nature.
The film, produced at a reported budget of Rs 180 crore, was recently given a clean run at the box office after actor Akshay Kumar postponed the release of his social drama, PadMan, by two weeks.
