Deepika Padukone had been one of those very few people who has come out in the open and spoken about the possibility and the nature of ill mental health while sharing with the world as to how she personally has dealt and managed to come out of it.
A short while ago, during a panel discussion, the Padmaavat actress exclaimed that depression is not exclusive to the elite, but in fact, could attack anyone and everyone without notice.
While speaking about the same, she said, “When we were talking about more celebrities coming out, there is also a misconception that depression happens to people who are successful. I want to clarify that it can happen to anybody from any field, irrespective of their socio-economic background. Depression is sometimes perceived as a luxury. People think that those who have too much time or money get into depression. I think it is very important to break that myth.”
This seems to have come after Salman Khan kind of shunned down the whole idea of depression coming to them by saying, “I see a lot of people going on vacations, but I cannot afford that luxury of taking a vacation. I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can’t afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me.”
So, was this DP’s way to it out at Khan for his fairly furor-creating statement?
