The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) will never stay out of the limelight, thanks to their antics. Their current prey, Noor has been advised some mindless cuts and this has made the film’s leading lady, Sonakshi furious.
Sunil Sippy’s Noor starring Sonakshi Sinha in the titular lead role will go through several audio cuts before making it to the silver screen as the CBFC has asked the makers of the film to make various changes.
As the story revolves around Noor, a journalist who is an ardent Barkha Dutt fan, The CBFC’s first demand was to beep out journalist Barkha Dutt’s last name as they have claimed that referring to real life characters without their green light is not allowed.
The second demand is to beep out the word ‘dalit’ because it works as a reference to the caste system. (Okay CBFC, let’s run away from the caste system which is so visibly present in our society but is an issue that cannot be uttered about in our films)
The third appeal replaces the word ‘sex toy’ with ‘adult site’ and lastly to beep out references to a liquor brand.
While movies are supposed to be a reflection of the society that we live in, with the CBFC’s moral policing we doubt the authenticity of the content that’s being delivered to us.
