Shah Rukh Khan is in a state of metamorphosis currently. He has broken the myth of repetitiveness and attempted to explore a space few actors would like to delve into. And despite the constant underwhelming results, one cannot deny the audacity of his ambitions and the attempt to put up a performance. With films like Ra.One, Fan and Dear Zindagi, the actor dared to branch out from his now-tiring persona of a romantic hero who can woo and charm the leading lady at the drop of a hat. And with Aanand L. Rai’s Zero, he goes a step ahead and opts for the role of a character suffering from vertical disability, although, both the director and the actor have retained the charisma of the star.
So will this film finally hit the bulls’ eye? Can Shah Rukh Khan the star deliver a much-awaited and deserved Blockbuster and end the year on a joyous note? When asked the same to his Rai, this is what he said, “SRK is a successful man. All the flops in the series is not his problem, it’s the filmmaker’s problem. I can only say that the way we have made this film, we have enjoyed making the film. There was fun, guts. When we were making this film, we knew that we are making something exciting. He is so successful actor that everything’s go in his favor. He can only decide that I can do this experiment or that.”
He added, “The actors who haven’t achieved that, they will play safe. An actor like SRK can afford to do this. He is a star and a great actor, he will keep on finding diverse roles. Another actor would have seen Zero as an experiment but SRK sees it as an opportunity. He’s not saying that, ‘My previous films didn’t work, then let’s play safe.’ He is too big to play safe.” The trailer and the first song have been very well-received by the fans and the critics, and if Zero gets the plot just right, it could be Khan’s most cherished and successful piece of work!
