The much-awaited LALKAAR concert, led by Population Foundation of India, Farhan Akhtar’s MARD and director Feroz Abbas Khan happened last night. The event in question was supported by the Bill And Melinda Gates Foundation, where musicians lent their support to the campaign that aims to end the gruesome violence against the female population.
The concert took place at Mumbai’s Bandra Fort Amphitheatre where Farhan Akhtar, Armaan Malik, Harshdeep Kaur, Papon, Salim- Sulaiman and Sukriti- Prakriti performed to a packed house. On top of that, superstar Shah Rukh Khan made a special appearance and recited a poem written by Javed Akhtar, which was dedicated to women.
“We are using our creativity and our music at the LALKAAR concert to galvanize a movement to end violence against women and girls. We are on a mission to galvanize support and inspire the youth to be a catalyst for change for generations to come”, said Farhan Akhtar.
Outside the convert, the who’s who of the Indian entertainment industry, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, Shabana Azmi, Vishal Dadlani, Shankar Mahadevan, Richa Chadha, Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan lent their voices to the campaign & supported LALKAAR on social media platforms.
The concert was free for registered communities at large and even the rest of the world. The concert was broadcasted on Facebook Live to be available for all in a bid to inspire change for the greater good.
