Yay! Ranveer Singh to play Kapil Dev?

There are hardly any moments that make us proud in the same way as the moment when Kapil Dev held the 1983 World Cup did which they won after taking down West Indies at Lord’s Cricket Ground!

For those who’d want to relive this memory on the big screen, we have some REALLY EXCITING news for you all as this iconic match will be brought to you as a full-length feature film by Kabir Khan and Phantom films and none other than the over-energized bunny (As per Aditi Rao Hydari) of Bollywood, Ranveer Singh will be essaying the role of the Indian Cricket Teams’ Captain back then, Kapil Dev (Yes, we are doing the happy dance right here)

If you remember, we had reported the same about four months ago that Ranveer had been offered this sensational role. However, now it looks like things are materializing and the announcement might be soon underway.

As of now, the process of acquiring rights from the players involved is reportedly underway and the final workings of the deal between the concerned parties are being worked upon.

With regards to this, Ranveer Singh’s spokesperson said: “It’s too early to confirm anything with regards to Ranveer Singh playing Kapil Dev. An announcement will be made by the production house as and when everything is finalized.”

The news had been making rounds about a year ago, when Kabir Khan was busy shooting the Salman Khan starrer Tubelight (which we think he might be secretly regretting right about now), so we were unable to get any kind of confirmation from the director due to his hectic schedule then.

If all goes well, this film adaptation of Team India’s most iconic match till date, with Ranveer Singh leading it as India’s former skipper, will be a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience!
