The CBFC goes snip-snip yet again!

The CBFC is at it again and this time around Siddharth Malhothra and Katrina Kaif’s ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ is facing the Censor Board’s ire. Reportedly the movie was refused certification until they removed a reference to ‘Savita Bhabhi,’ a popular comic character and something that CBFC termed as ‘an offensive shot of a women’s brasserie’. After finally adhering to the demands the film has received a UA certificate.

The ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ team isn’t happy with this. A source close to the movie informed a popular daily, “We don’t live in times where women’s inner wear is never spoken of in public. In fact, even as late as 1995, there was a scene featuring Kajol in ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’. Moreover, ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ is directed by a woman (Nitya Mehra). To assume she’d use the lingerie scene for titillation is absurd.”

In the past movies like ‘Udta Punjab’, ‘Great Grand Masti’, ‘Killing Veerapan’, ‘Aligarh’, ‘NH10’, ‘Spectre’ and even Hollywood film ‘The Jungle Book’ which had children as its target audience have run into trouble with the Palhaj Nilhani led Censor Board.
