Women’s Day: stories of 5 leading ladies of Bollywood

On the occasion of Women’s Day, here’s a sneak peek into the stories of some of the leading ladies of Bollywood, who have showcased their talent off-screen, along with immense amount of hard work and dedication and have broken all stereotypes to take the industry to a whole new platform.

All of these women have just not achieved success in terms of money but also by touching and creating a beautiful life for everybody around them.

Bollywood has seen many women entrepreneurs who have left a mark. Let us take a look at five of these phenomenal women.
1. Deepshikha Deshmukh

Deepshikha is the front lady for Puja Films. She focuses on meaningful cinema and feels that films should be content driven so that people can discuss and gain knowledge through these films.  Her film as a debut producer was the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer ‘Sarbjit’. Deepshikha is also known for taking a stand towards the environment. She is a doting mother and a wonderful wife.

2. Zoya Akhtar

She is a film director and screenwriter. Zoya Akhtar has directed some great films which have appealed to the audience since they have shown a slice of life. Zoya has also contributed to the industry by giving in some great scripts for some exceptional films. She is the daughter of the immensely talented Javed Akhtar.

3. Ekta Kapoor

The famous Tv and film producer, Ekta Kapoor, is also the joint managing and creative director of Balaji Tele Films of her own production company. She started her career at the tender age of 17 and is now amongst the top female producers in the country. Not only has Ekta Kapoor produced great films but has also produced some great soap operas. Balaji Tele Films every year comes up with some great movies that always manage to leave the audience spellbound.

4. Alankrita Shrivastava

An independent filmmaker, Alankrita has been an assistant to Prakash Jha in many of his projects.
She is most famously known for her critically acclaimed film ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ which not only received some great reviews but also bagged many awards for breaking stereotypes.

5. Gauri Shinde

She is an ad and feature filmmaker, who has been widely praised for ‘English Vinglish’ which also marked the comeback of Late Srideviji. Gauri Shinde has also been featured in the Financial Times 2012 in the ‘List of 25 Indians to Watch’. And has also directed ‘Dear Zindagi’ which received great reviews and was a story that has never been seen on silver screen.
