Siddharth Roy Kapur to resign as the MD and CEO of Walt Disney India

Film producer, Siddharth Roy Kapur is stepping down as the Managing Director and CEO of Disney India. While Disney India’s last film ‘Dangal’ is all set to release on 23rd December, Siddharth will be resigning from the production house from 20th December.

Siddharth took over as the CEO of UTV Motion Pictures in 2005 and after the collaboration of UTV with The Walt Disney Company (India), he led the studio to an incredible commercial success and critical acclaim over a six-year-period by producing and releasing some highly successful films.

Mahesh Samant will become the new Managing director of The Walt Disney Company (India). Andy Bird, Chairman of The Walt Disney International confirmed the news, saying, “Mahesh guided Disney in India in its early days, and we are thrilled with his decision to return to the organisation he helped build.”

Last month, there were reports that Siddharth Roy Kapur would take over as the president of The Film and Television Producers Guild of India. There was, however, no official confirmation of the same. The position is currently held by Mukesh Bhatt.
