Should Ranbir Kapoor play Shashi Kapoor in his biopic?

The late legend Shashi Kapoor’s great-nephew, Ranbir Kapoor has been hailed by his current on-screen father Paresh Rawal (who plays Sunil Dutt in Sanju, the much talked about Sanjay Dutt biopic) as someone who poses a unique talent. Well, we agree there. After all, it does take a unique set of skills for a lover-boy to play Bollywood’s rock star (that too, in his 50s) on screen.

And now, ever since we have seen some of the late legends early pictures (admittedly, since the last evening), we think that RK Jr. can use his unique talent to perfectly play his great uncle on screen in his biopic, should one ever be made.

Those long locks, that charisma and the Kapoor’s tendency to flirt with the forbidden with utmost flamboyancy are something that both Shashi and Ranbir have in common, since it is in the DNA of the Kapoor Khaandaan, as is said by Rishi Kapoor in his recently released autobiography.

Also, given that Ranbir went all out to play someone he is NOTHING like in real life, it should rather come in easy for him to play his great uncle as we bet he knows the legendary human being inside-out.

All of Shashi’s relationships, his career choices, his stint at Hollywood would be definitely worth exploring via the very same medium that Shashiji devoted his life to.

Should things ever materialize, it would be the greatest tribute to Shashi by his very own family member.

Here’s to hoping that the Jagga Jasoos actor will immortalize the icon by playing him.
