Shiddat: When Madhuri Dixit stepped into Sridevi’s shoes!

A few months ago, Karan Johar had announced a mega project with Sanjay Dutt, Sridevi, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha. The film, titled Shiddat, directed by 2 States’ fame Abhishek Varman, was set to release on the 19th of April, 2019.

But after the unfortunate and untimely demise of Sridevi, it was being reported that Karan Johar might shelve the project. However, Sridevi’s daughter, Janhvi Kapoor, just posted a heartfelt letter, thanking his moms’ friend, Madhuri Dixit Nene for now being a part of the film in her mother’s place.

Check it out right here:

According to sources, Shiddat is set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak partition and some gigantic sets would be designed and ace designer Manish Malhotra would be handling the costumes. Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapur will be seen as brothers but the roles of the other members are yet to be unveiled.

On the work front, Varun Dhawan has some major films in his filmography. October is coming up this April, followed by Sui Dhaaga with Anushka Sharma, slated for a 28th September release, Remo D’Souza just announced India’s biggest dance film, where he’s paired opposite Katrina Kaif, next would be Ranbhoomi, a period saga helmed by Shashank Khaitan, all set to arrive on Diwali 2020.

Sanjay Dutt is doing Saheb Biwi Gangster Returns, Torbaaz and Panipat. Alia Bhatt has Raazi, Gully Boy and Brahmastra.  And lastly, Sonakshi Sinha will been seen in Happy Bhag Jayegi Returns, which will release on the 24th of August this year.

All in all, it will be really exciting to see such a massive cast come together to create a cinematic spectacle, and yet another take on the Indo-Pak issue.
