Both Kangana Ranaut and Salman Khan have always been about experimenting with new subjects, and, come what may, it doesn’t look like the two will stop doing that anytime soon, given the kind of films the two have in the pipeline.
Adding to the list of Kangana’s unusual choices is a whodunit thriller, which she plans to begin working on once she is done with Manikarnika: the Queen Of Jhansi. The film in question is being directed by Shailesh Singh and the feisty Rangoon actress already has a name in mind for it.
If reports are to be believed, Kangana, along with the makers, were keen to title the film “Mental” as they felt that the name went beautifully with the storyline. But, as luck would have it, they found out that Salman Khan has been the owner of that title for many years now.
A source close to the affair said, “Kangana and Shaileshji are both keen to title their film Mental. They both think that it goes wonderfully with the story. But when the producers contacted Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association [IMPPA], they realized that the copyright of the name rests with Salman Khan Films [SKF]. Salman’s team had registered the title a few years back when they were toying with the idea of naming Kabir Khan’s then under-production film, Mental. However, they later changed it to Tubelight.”
As many know, Kangana and Salman go a long way, since it was her who was offered the role of the female protagonist in Salman and YRF’s Sultan first, but she had turned it down and the part eventually landed in Anushka Sharma’s lap. But, that never really soured the cordial relation that the two share.
Now, the question is, will Salman be as generous as ever and let go of the title?
A source says, “At the moment, there’s no project that could use the title. Unless Bhai has something in mind, he will allow Shaileshji to go ahead with it.”
Well, we hope the right film gets the title Mental!
