Sacred Games: When Netflix REFUSED to listen to the Indian Censor Board!

Sacred Games is one of the most successful and critically acclaimed shows on Netflix. The web-series features Saif Ali Khan as Sartaj Singh and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a Mumbai-based gangster, Ganesh Gaitonde.

Along with success the series landed itself into a political mess as a petitioner named Nikhil Bhalla and his advocate Shashank Garg filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, which accused the show and its makers of making derogatory remarks on the former PM Rajeev Gandhi and even asked Netflix to censor a dialogue where the minister was called a ‘wimp’.

But, Netflix remained adamant and did not budge from its stand as the senior advocate, Chander Lal, appearing for it told the court “My instructions are that we don’t want to change the word.”

On the other hand, although there are a bunch of people who are against the dialogues that have been used in order to describe Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, his very own son, Rahul Gandhi is in support of freedom of expression.
