REVEALED: This is what Karan Johar’s actors will play in Takht!

Karan Johar recently announced not only the biggest film of his career but possibly the biggest Hindi film of recent times. Yes, we are talking about Takht, a gigantic and mammoth period drama that Johar has described as the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham of the Mughal Era. And now, it has been revealed which actor will portray which role.

If sources are to be believed, Anil Kapoor will play the fifth Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, Vicky Kaushal will essay the role of Aurangzeb and Ranveer Singh will be se seen in the role of his elder brother, Dara Shikoh. Kareena Kapoor Khan has been given the role of Jahanara Begum Sahib and Alia Bhatt steps into the role of Dara’s wife, Begum Nadira Banu and Bhumi Pednekar dons the character of Aurangzeb’s wife, Dilras Banu Begum. Last but not the least, Johar’s latest find, Janhvi Kapoor will be seen in the role of a young slave girl called Hira Bai.

A source says, “Apart from her equation with Karan, who is directing the film, Kareena has agreed to be part of such a strong cast also because of the fabulous role she plays. In fact, her role is equal to Ranveer and Vicky’s in Takht. She plays Ranveer and Vicky’s sister. Jahanara was a highly influential lady at the Mughal court during her father and Aurangzeb’s minds who was allowed to speak her mind and give advice. Anil plays their father Shah Jahan, considered to be the most competent of the Mughal Emperors (and had built the Taj Mahal in Agra) but who was imprisoned by Aurangzeb during the war of succession. It’s a powerful role too. In a film with a star cast and talent like this, one has to make sure that all the stars get their due.”

We really cannot wait for 2020 now, when Takht arrives in the cinemas!
