REVEALED: Details of Akshay Kumar’s horror movie!

Off late, we have seen Akshay Kumar pulling off several kinds of parts in films like he was meant to play them. With his recent releases, he has always successfully tapped into the trends of making films about social causes, telling unheard inspirational stories, mega-budget Sci-Fi films like 2.0 and historical epics such as the currently-in-production Kesari.

But, there’s one thing that Kumar has never really tried in his career after Bhool Bhuliyaa, which is a horror-comedy film.

Sure, films belonging to the horror genre, in general, have been around for quite some time, but it is something that filmmakers have hardly ever attempted. Frankly, the last horror outing that we remember watching is Dobaara, which is not what you call a scary film at all. And honestly, we don’t remember being genuinely spooked by a Bollywood horror film in a long time, although Anushka Sharma’s Pari looks quite promising.

So, given the state of the horror film scene in our country, Kumar allegedly plans to try his hands with it before probably somebody else makes it the new thing in town. Now, that’s what you call thinking ahead of the curve.

About a month ago, we had reported that Akshay has been thinking of working on a regional horror comedy film, and now, we have some really interesting details on it.

As per reports, Akshay Kumar will be a part of the remake of the Tamil horror comedy film, Kanchana.

To give you a brief on what Kanchana is all about, here’s a Wikipedia excerpt:

“The film revolves around Raghava, who is scared to venture outside gets possessed by a ghost and starts behaving weirdly. The ghost turns out to be a transgender who wants to take revenge on an MLA who murdered her and her family for land-grabbing.”

Now, if reports are to be believed, the pre-production of the film is already done with and KriArj Entertainment, who has had a long and successful relationship with Akki so far, will be bankrolling it.

In fact, the makers will be remaking the film with its original director, Raghava Lawrence. The project will go on floors sometime between September and October this year and as of now, we hear that the film should be ideally ready for an early 2019 release.

Isn’t that exciting? Akshay Kumar clearly works all year long to keep us entertained and here a yet another proof of that.

In the meanwhile, his 2018 is filled with films like Pad Man, 2.0 and Gold. It looks like he’s going to have a rocking 2019 as well, with films like Kesari and all.
