Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma has announced that he will be making a biopic on the legendary Telugu actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR). Reports suggest that NTR’s son, actor Nandamuri Balakrishna will play his father in the untitled project.
Verma shared the big news via voice note and said, “NTR is a name to reckon with every Telugu-speaking individual. He was not just a great actor but a leader with an unprecedented following. I’m very proud to direct a film on his life,”
RGV even shared some personal connection with the movie. He said “My personal relationship with him goes back to the year when his blockbuster film Adavi Ramudu had released. I didn’t have money to take the bus to the movie hall. I walked ten kilometers each time and watched the film 23 times.”
But wait Ram Gopal Verma making a biopic and no controversy? Well, NTR’s son Nandamuri may have given his support to the film, but Lakshmi Parvathi, NTR’s second wife of has an objection against the biopic. In a statement released, she said, ” He showed NTR in a cruel role in his earlier films and I don’t expect that he will do justice to him in his biopic.”
This is not the first time Ram Gopal Verma will be directing a biopic. Earlier he directed a film based on Verappan‘s life in 2016 and has already registered a biopic on late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
