Padmavati officially gets renamed to Padmaavat

After a long wait, the e Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has finally passed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh. The film has been passed by five modification and the historical drama will be officially called Padmaavat.

CBFC has recommended five modification the to makers of the film. While speaking about the same Prasoon Joshi said: “We have also asked the makers to change the title from Padmavati to ‘Padmavat’ as the filmmakers have attributed their material/creative source to the fictional poem Padmavat and not history.

He further said, “We have asked the filmmakers to change the disclaimer to one that does not claim historical accuracy; modify the incorrect/misleading reference to historical places; add a disclaimer which states that the film in no manner subscribes or glorifies the practice of Sati.

Padmavati, now renamed as Padmaavat, was earlier scheduled to release on December 1, 2017, but due to continuous protests and CBFC fiasco forced the makers to shift the date.

Padmaavat is now reported to hit the screens on 25th January 2018, however, no official confirmation is made by the makers.
