Nawazuddin’s Babumoshai Bandookbaaz becomes next victim of CBFC

Our very own Sansakaari CBFC is back. After having issues with movies like Udta Punjab, Anaarkali of Aarah and the latest Lipstick Under My Burkha seems like Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has become the latest victim of the Censor Board. Despite receiving an ‘A’ Certificate, the Central Board of Film Certification’s Chief Pahlaj Nihalani has demanded 48 cuts from Babumoshai Bandookbaaz.

Many filmmakers from the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association ( IFTDA) gathered to take a stand and revolt against Pahlaj Nihalani‘s decision. While speaking about the problems created by the CBFC, Nawazuddin told the press, “The situation is such that I have to count my words.

He further added saying “When conditions like these arise, the producers feel scary while improvising as there is no creative freedom. These words and language are important to give local flavour and authenticity to the role for the story growth. As an actor, I think if the film has a local flavour, then only it becomes global. My character is not polished, how can I not use abusive language?

We surely agree with Nawaz. It’s high time that the CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani should retire. Recently there was news that Pahlaj Nihalani will have to step down from the position of the chief. We just hope that day comes quickly!

Well, the team has decided to approach Film Certification Appellate Tribunal. The film is slated to release on 25 August.
