Yesterday ‘Parched’ actress Tannishtha Chatterjee accused the hosts of ‘Comedy Night Bachao’ of being racists to her and the news was all over the Internet. She felt terrible being on the show because all the digs made at her were about her dark complexion. The story broke when Tannishtha posted on Facebook about her experience on the show, to which Colors channel released an apology. Krushna Abhishek, one of the hosts on the show said, “Tannishtha is going overboard. She is doing this for publicity. We always meet the actors before they come on the show. I had asked her if she has seen the show before and if she was familiar with our concept. She said she hadn’t seen the show. She hadn’t even watched the AIB roast. If she didn’t know what it was, she shouldn’t have come on the show. But she came with Raddhika Apte and Leena Yadav. We gave more importance to Raddhika, who is a bigger star. That must have been a problem for Tannishtha.”
He also added, “In any case it’s a roast format aur humne wahi masti ki jo hamesha karte hain. In fact we have toned it down from what it was earlier. Initially she was enjoying it, but after a while she told us she doesn’t likes such kind of mass humour. However neither Radhika nor Leena had any problem with our comments. In fact they were laughing and also danced with me.”
So why did she leave the show mid-way?
“After three acts we realised she was not enjoying the show at all. We thought she will spoil the show, so it was mine and director Nikul Desai’s decision that we will send them because we have finished doing their film’s integration with the show”
We wonder which side to pick?
