Did you know Arijit Singh dubbed over Ali Zafar’s voice?

Ali Zafar’s role of a flirty musician in ‘Dear Zindagi’ remained unharmed in spite of the political pressure built around casting Pakistani artists.

Ali Zafar’s role of a flirty musician in ‘Dear Zindagi’ remained unharmed in spite of the political pressure built around casting Pakistani artists. But the sad part was for the two songs Ali had sung for the film, ‘Tu Hi Hai’ and ‘Tareefon Se’. The song had been dubbed over by popular Indian singer, Arijit Singh.

Some sources suggests that the decision for dubbing Ali’s songs was taken by Sony Music, some say it was co-producer Karan Johar who took the final call and said, “After the trouble Karan went through in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil because of Fawad Khan’s presence in the cast, Karan Johar wanted no trouble again.” The source added, “Director Gauri Shinde insisted that not a single shot of Ali Zafar be cut from the film. However she had no say in the dubbing of Ali’s songs by Arijit Singh.”

It is so strange for Arijit to get into another singer’s territory as his own song, ‘Jag Ghoomiya’ from ‘Sultan’ was dubbed by a Pakistani artist, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
