Bollywood filmmakers have been eyeing ‘Sairat’ ever since it became the first Marathi film to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. If reports are to be believed, Karan Johar has bought the rights of the Marathi blockbuster starring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar. The film now lies in the kitty of Dharma Productions and will also be co-produced by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. While the basic storyline will remain more or less the same, other necessary changes are being made as per the taste of the broader Indian Audience. As per reports, the shooting for the film will start next year.
The Marathi film will also be remade in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. ‘Sairat,’ which released in February this year was appreciated by a lot of Bollywood celebrities, critics and the pan-Indian audience. Karan too had praised this Nagraj Manjule Directorial on Twitter.
Still reeling from the tremendous impact of #Sairat …saw it last night and woke up with a heavy heart and so much respect for the film….
