Jacqueline and Siddharth’s ‘Bang Bang 2’ cuts down on budget

The producers of Jacqueline Fernandez and Siddharth Malhothra’s ‘Bang Bang 2’ had full plans to make the sequal bigger and better than the original.  They brought on board Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. (Raj & DK) to direct their film and planned some fabulous International shoots for the film. But after completing their Miami schedule, looks like the ambitious venture is running into some deep trouble.

Earlier, a schedule was planned to be shot in either Malaysia or Thailand in October but these plans have now been cancelled. The second big schedule had been shifted from Malaysia to Thailand after the production team failed to get shooting subsidies in Malaysia, but according to a report in a leading daily, the whole international schedule has been scrapped. In fact Sidharth and Jacqueline will now resume the shoot in Mumbai’s Worli village next week. This could be a direct result of the budgetary cuts that most of the studios have undertaken due to the huge losses they have been facing in high budget ventures.

A source revealed to the tabloid, “We begin rehearsals by this weekend. Some hi-octane car chase sequences will be filmed, including one featuring Sidharth Malhothra and Darshan Kumar whose car gets stuck between two buildings. They play cadets being mentored by Suniel Shetty, an ex-colonel. After plans to shoot in Thailand fell through due to budgetary constraints, the team felt that Worli village was a perfect location for the shoot.”

The source added that a major chunk of action sequences will be shot during this Mumbai schedule after which Fox Star Studios will decide whether the shoot will take place in International locations or not. However the film’s spokesperson chose not to comment on this.

Fox Star studios have been one of the most affected corporate houses in Bollywood’s recent and current dry spell, therefore them wanting to cut down on budget comes as no surprise. Some of their recent failures include ‘Humshakals’, ‘Mr X’, ‘Bombay Velvet’, ‘Shaandar’ and even the recently released Sonakshi Sinha starrer ‘Akira’.
