HC dismisses Anil’s claims, rules in Jimmy’s favour

Earlier this year we informed you that Sonam Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Veere Di Wedding is having a title clash with Jimmy Shergil’s upcoming Punjabi movie Veerey Ki Wedding. This similarity has disturbed daddy Anil Kapoor as Veere Di Wedding is produced by daughter Rhea Kapoor and stars Sonam.

According to recent reports, Anil wrote to the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) regarding the issue. He also approached the High Court and claimed that the makers of the Punjabi film are seeking publicity from the similar sounding tittle of a ‘bigger’ movie.

However, HC dismissed Anil’s claim as there was no similarity between the cast and story. As Jimmy’s movie is almost ready, HC has allowed them to go ahead with the tittle.

Anshu Trikha, director of Jimmy Shergil’s movie confirmed the news saying, “We were informed that their lawyers had sent a notice asking us to be present in court, else they’d seek interim relief. We rushed to get our paperwork done. The judge said he was not convinced by the [Anil’s] argument. He did not find any misuse or deceit as alleged, given that the story and cast were different. We are waiting for the judgment copy.”

The Kapoor’s haven’t sent out an official statement but it looks like Anil will finally put his foot down and change the title.
