Before the release of M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, there were lot of speculations as to whether Fawad Khan was playing the role of Virat Kohli or not. And if he was, then why didn’t it make it to the final cut of the Dhoni biopic?
A Keedas close to the film revealed to us that Fawad indeed was a part of the movie and he even shot for his part with director, Neeraj Pandey and lead actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The equation between Virat Kohli and M.S.Dhoni was an integral part of the movie. Fawad was still part of the movie a week before the release, in fact he was supposed to be a surprise package for Fawad and Virat fans. However, the Uri attacks happened and soon Pakistani artists’ issue became a debate due to political parties, who not only asked to ban these artists but also the movies that featured them. So, Neeraj Pandey at the last minute had to make a tough call by chopping off Fawad’s role. “Neeraj Pandey didn’t wanted any negative publicity or controversy around the movie. Though Fawad’s role was an integral part of the movie but it wasn’t as important as M.S.Dhoni’s. Fawad wasn’t even aware about this thing until the movie released” says a source who worked on the project
