IT’S OFFICIAL! THIS is when Sonam Kapoor will OFFICIALLY be married!

Unless you’re living under a rock, you are more than aware of that news regarding Sonam Kapoor tying the knot with her long-term beau, Anand Ahuja very soon. A lot has been said on the matter and we imagine that the rumours must be the fodder for some kind of memes somewhere.

There had been news of preparations for a Grand Sangeet ceremony at Anil Kapoor’s Juhu residence. In fact, if rumours are to be believed, daddy dearest Anil Kapoor will also be seen shaking a leg to some of the hit tracks his daughter has been a part of for an act that will allegedly be choreographed by Farah Khan.

But, as has the trend been for quite some time now, hush-hush marriages are the latest thing in town and there are more than one examples of rumoured marriages that are allegedly happening this year itself.

But now, after weeks, if not months, of speculations, the Kapoor’s and Ahuja’s have released a public statement, hence confirming the holy union of the much-in-love duo.

The official statement reads, “The Kapoor & Ahuja families, take great joy and pride, in announcing the marriage of Sonam & Anand. The wedding will take place on the 8th of May in Mumbai. Since it is an intimate affair, we request you to respect the family’s need for privacy. Thank you for all your blessings and love as we celebrate this special moment in our lives.”

Yes, mark your calendars! May 8th it is! And, since it’s an intimate affair, we’d rather let the families involved celebrate this special moment in their lives in total privacy.

Why do we think that a part of it is ironic? Quite recently, while reacting to her wedding rumours at the trailer launch event of her upcoming movie, Veere Di Wedding, she said that “I think the whole idea of a marriage is more appealing to me than a wedding. I think there is too much money spent; it’s all very crass, and I would rather give that money away. I’d rather have a wedding at home than anywhere else. I think it’s important to do all the rituals, but I don’t believe in spending all that money, I find it disgusting and very wasteful, and I’m not okay with that at all,”

Well, well, well.

Anyways, what’s your take on it? Let us know!
