Chitrangada Singh is venturing into the world of film production and the first film that she chose to start of her production filmography with is Soorma, a film that stars Diljit Dosanjh as Sandeep Singh, who is the former captain of the Indian hockey team and is the record holder for the longest drag flick that has ever been pulled off by anyone in the history of the sport.
Speaking about what the film means to Chitrangada, she shared that, “It is based on real incidents and in a way, we are acknowledging real-life hero Sandeep Singh. We always look upon the aspirational value of heroes which we see on-screen, which is fictional and created by writers and filmmakers. But Sandeep Singh led a very dramatic life. He got injured by a bullet. Despite that, he became captain of the Indian hockey team, so it’s really an inspirational story and it inspired me a lot. It is really close to my heart. We have made this film with a lot of effort and heart. We took around two and a half years to release the film, and so I hope the audience will appreciate it once it is released.”
Speaking about what made her turn into a producer, she said that, “When I was listening to the story of the film, that time I felt that I have never come across a dramatic real-life story of a person. Sandeep Singh’s journey has been incredible as he was in a coma and was paralyzed after getting shot by a bullet.”
Well, we certainly hope that all the efforts that have been put in by Chitrangada and the team of Soorma will pay off!
